Women in mathematics: The history behind the gender gap.

Women In Math Over the past 20 years the number of women in the fields of math, science and engineering have grown at astronomical rate. The number of women which hold positions in these fields has more than doubled. In post secondary education women are filling up the lecture halls and labs where in the past where it was rare to see a woman at all.

The Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM), was established in the United States, and despite extensive work which has followed to address the challenges women in mathematics face, women still encounter particular difficulties within their professional careers.
