CAUSES OF THE AMERICAN CIVIL WAR Essay The South which was know as the Confederate States of America seceded fromthe North, which was also know as the Union. The reason they wanted tosucceed was because there was four decades of great sectional conflictbetween the two.
The civil War started April 12th 1861. The Civil war was fought between the northern states and the southern states. There were many causes for the civil war, including the ideas of trade, states’ rights, tariffs, and most importantly, slavery. During the civil war the U.S army was neither considering nor accepting black soldiers.
The cause of the war that divided the nation cannot be narrowly defined into a single issue but each cause is affected and tied together.
